PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8, 2025
Edinburg, TX- Dr. Ahmad Aldbis, one of UOSSM’s earliest pioneers and current Program Director, was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, Oct. 7, 2025, in Syria. Dr. Aldbis sustained multiple, complex injuries that require surgery. Thankfully, his condition is not life-threatening.
For over a decade, Dr. Aldbis has been on the frontlines since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, dedicating his life to helping and supporting those in need. As one of the original members of UOSSM, he has played a crucial role in developing and leading humanitarian programs that have provided lifesaving medical care and relief to millions affected by conflict.
His leadership and compassion have extended far beyond Syria — to Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ukraine, and other crisis areas — where he has guided and supported humanitarian and medical relief efforts, bringing hope and healing to countless lives.
Dr. Aldbis has also been a trusted voice and vital source of critical information for UOSSM’s communications for over a decade, providing reliable statistics and field updates on humanitarian crises — including attacks on medical facilities, civilian bombings, and the devastating earthquake of 2023. Through his work, he became a voice for the voiceless, tirelessly ensuring that the suffering of civilians would not go unheard.
Dr. Khaula Sawah, Vice President of UOSSM USA said, “Dr. Ahmad has been on the ground with me in Syria since the very beginning — he truly represents and embodies the heart, spirit, and mission of UOSSM. We pray he makes a full and speedy recovery and send our deepest thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Just one day before the devastating accident, Dr. Sawah and Dr. Aldbis met in Damascus to discuss ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The entire UOSSM family stands in solidarity with Dr. Aldbis and his loved ones during this difficult time. We ask our friends, supporters, and partners to keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers as he recovers.
