The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to place immense pressure on families, healthcare services, and essential infrastructure. People across Gaza continue to face ongoing displacement, food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and significant psychological distress.
Despite these challenges, UOSSM USA remains operational in Gaza through dedicated local teams, supported by technical and operational staff based in Jordan. Our programs focus on providing lifesaving healthcare, specialized nutrition services, mental health and psychosocial support, and emergency humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities. Through evidence-based interventions and strong community engagement, we strive to protect lives, preserve dignity, and strengthen resilience during one of the world’s most complex humanitarian emergencies.
Children suffering from acute malnutrition and pregnant and breastfeeding women remain among the most vulnerable populations in Gaza. UOSSM USA provides specialized outpatient nutrition services focused on the early detection, treatment, and prevention of malnutrition while promoting safe infant and young child feeding practices.
Our multidisciplinary team delivers:
These services are delivered by qualified healthcare professionals inside Gaza with technical support from UOSSM USA’s regional team. The program is designed not only to save lives but also to strengthen community capacity and improve long-term nutritional outcomes.
Years of conflict and displacement have had a profound impact on the mental health and wellbeing of children, families, and communities throughout Gaza. UOSSM USA provides comprehensive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services that help individuals cope with trauma while strengthening community resilience.
Services include:
By combining direct services with staff training and capacity building, UOSSM USA strengthens both immediate support and longer-term community resilience.
Resuming in July/ August 2026, UOSSM USA is re-establishing its Advanced Wound Care Program in Gaza, building on the experience and impact of its previous specialized wound care services. The renewed program adopts an integrated home-based approach to improve access to specialized wound care for patients with complex wounds who have limited access to healthcare services.
The program focuses on:
Through this integrated approach, UOSSM USA aims to improve healing, reduce complications, restore function, and expand access to specialized wound care services for vulnerable communities across Gaza.
In addition to its health programs, UOSSM USA responds to urgent humanitarian needs through emergency and seasonal assistance for vulnerable families.
Depending on community needs and available resources, activities may include:
These activities help families meet their immediate needs while preserving dignity and strengthening community resilience during times of crisis.
UOSSM USA delivers programs through experienced teams working inside Gaza, supported by technical and operational staff based in Jordan. We work closely with local communities and healthcare professionals to ensure services are accessible, evidence-based, culturally appropriate, and responsive to evolving humanitarian needs.
Our work is guided by the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence, with a commitment to delivering quality healthcare and humanitarian assistance regardless of nationality, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
UOSSM USA responded early to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, implementing a wide range of health and humanitarian programs to address urgent medical and community needs. This work included emergency medical care, inpatient and outpatient health services, specialized medical support, advanced wound care, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support, rehabilitation, and humanitarian relief.
Throughout 2024–2025, these earlier programs were implemented by UOSSM USA with funding from multiple partners, including UOSSM Canada, as well as contributions from UOSSM USA’s private community donors and other funding partners. These programs laid the foundation for many of the health and humanitarian programs that UOSSM USA continues to build upon today.
