Our Programs in Gaza

Emergency Disaster Relief

Since November 2023, UOSSM USA has been delivering medical and humanitarian aid including medical supplies, food baskets, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene kits, first aid kits, baby formula, and baby diapers.

During the month of Ramadan, additional food baskets and cooked meals are distributed to the neediest of families.

During Hajj season, Adahi meat and meals are provided to displaced and needy families.

With a famine officially declared in Gaza, UOSSM USA launched a monthly food drive to combat malnutrition by providing cooked baskets to thousands of the most vulnerable and displaced families.

Advanced Wound Care and Health Projects

As part of our ongoing efforts, UOSSM USA, in collaboration with UOSSM Canada, launched medical projects in hospitals and clinics in north and south Gaza, including advanced wound care, diabetes clinics, malnutrition clinics, eye surgeries, and pediatric medical care. Our teams have provided vital, lifesaving services to thousands, helping alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable in urgent need of medical care.

These projects aim to contribute to the reduction of health-related morbidities and mortalities of the war-affected population in the Gaza Strip by enhancing the accessibility to quality healthcare services for those most vulnerable and in need.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Project

Through this project, UOSSM USA contributes to improve the well-being and the resilience in the war-affected communities in Rafah Governorate, Gaza, fostering the mental health conditions of the war-affected populations by providing free-of-charge specialized mental health services, which will alleviate the psychological and social impacts of the crisis.

The project targets cases of beneficiaries both locals and internally displaced persons (IDPs), including men, women, boys, and girls, who may have signs and symptoms of one or more mental health disorders. The project also targets frontline health workers in Gaza including nurses and paramedics through providing capacity-building trainings on mental health related topics to increase their knowledge on how to detect and refer cases of beneficiaries in need for mental health services through five MHPSS teams which will provide the following:

  • MHPSS Services-Group Awareness Raising Sessions
  • Tele-health services
  • Parenting Skills
  • PSS Activities for Children (Social Emotional Learning)
  • Training and Capacity Building
  • Referral Pathway
