Since May, 2024 UOSSM USA, in partnership with UOSSM Canada, began implementing mental health, and specialized advanced health projects in Gaza. This is in addition to our ongoing medical and humanitarian relief efforts. Our mental health teams have been providing specialized mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) to displaced families, with focus on women and children, in central and southern Gaza. The project will help alleviate their suffering, improve their well-being, and strengthen their resilience. Through September 2024, we provided MHPSS services to 5183 people despite the extremely difficult conditions.

In addition to the mental health project, UOSSM USA-Canada launched a comprehensive health project in Gaza to address the diverse healthcare challenges amid the ongoing crisis. This joint initiative provides a wide range of healthcare services, with a focus on specialized advanced wound care, offering treatment for wounds related to both conflict and health conditions like diabetes utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) devices, along with the provision of medications and medical supplies to support effective wound management. The integration of VAC devices into trauma care promotes faster healing, reduces infection risks, and lowers the chance of complications for patients with severe wounds, ensuring comprehensive care. This type of treatment has revolutionized wound care for patients with both acute and chronic wounds.
