UOSSM USA Launches Campaign to Support COVID-19 Efforts

UOSSM USA launched a fundraising campaign to support COVID-19 response efforts. With the new imminent threat of COVID-19 outbreak in that region, UOSSM has taken proactive measures to help decrease the extent of the Coronavirus outbreak among the populations in the region. UOSSM began distributing hygiene kits along with educational materials about COVID-19 to families in displacement camps and crowded areas, while continuing to provide emergency relief, food baskets, and medical care to those in need.

UOSSM USA is raising funds to continue our response during the COVID-19 crisis to the affected displaced Syrians in the northern region, expand our outreach to the most vulnerable, and protect doctors, medical staff and first responders with the necessary protective gear to safely care for sick patients, so they don’t become victims of this virus.

UOSSM created preventative measures to COVID-19, by providing emergency aid to displacement camps in response to this pandemic crisis. Our response is the following:

Sterilization of 3 camps Distribution of over 1000 hygiene kits containing personal care for women and children The establishment of an isolation center and a distance learning center in Afrin Distribution of educational awareness brochures about COVID-19 for families in areas of displacement.

Impact Story- Hanan

Hanan had already been through so much by the tender age of 2…she felt the pain of war… She knew what it felt like to travel for a whole month just to find a safe shelter to live…She knew the pain of displacement at a very early age, and her tiny body paid the price as she was forced to endure the kind of suffering no child should ever have to experience. UOSSM’s psychosocial support team found Hanan in a routine visit to displacement camps and discovered that she was severely malnourished. She was immediately admitted to a UOSSM Primary Health Care Center. After months of care Hanan eventually reached a healthy weight and is now able to function like a normal, health child.

This is one of thousands of untold stories of the children of Syria, these children have paid the ultimate price by the effects of the brutal war. Because of supporters like you, these children are able to receive the medical care and emergency humanitarian aid that is desperately needed. Please don’t forget their suffering.
