Proactive Measures to Improve Health And Prevent Malnutrition
The situation continues to be dire in areas of displacement and other areas of need in northwest Syria, Jordan, and Gaza. Many families have been displaced several times and suffer from emotional stress. Malnutrition cases continue to rise in crisis affected areas, and inflation in the cost of food is further complicating the situation, making it even more difficult for people to find their next meal. Countless displaced and refugee families continue to suffer as the battle with hunger and malnutrition. While UOSSM offices in Turkey support programs in Turkey and Syria, UOSSM USA operates through its regional office in Jordan to provide essential services in Jordan and Gaza.
In addition to screening for and treating malnutrition, UOSSM Turkey worked on the distribution of nutritious food to improve the health of affected families, prevent malnutrition, and boost immunity of the people, especially the most vulnerable, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Syrian displaced communities were among the most vulnerable from the coronavirus. With no option to social distance, a shortage of medical supplies, equipment and PPE, and no access to clean water and soap, UOSSM became extremely concerned with the well-being of the people. distributed

The UOSSM USA - Jordan regional office has provided humanitarian relief with food, including food baskets, and Adahi/Qurbani meat in areas of crisis in southern Syria and Jordan to refugee and underserved families.
Since late 2023, UOSSM USA has been providing direct humanitarian relief with food baskets, hot cooked meals, Ramadan meals and Adahi meat to the neediest of families.
