This report documents humanitarian and healthcare initiatives implemented by UOSSM USA in Gaza during 2024. These completed projects form part of UOSSM USA’s historical humanitarian response and reflect the organization’s continued commitment to providing life-saving healthcare and humanitarian assistance to people affected by the crisis.

In May 2024, UOSSM USA launched its Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Program and Advanced Wound Care Project in Gaza as part of its humanitarian response to the ongoing crisis. Implemented by UOSSM USA with funding support from UOSSM Canada and UOSSM USA’s private community donors, these initiatives complemented UOSSM USA’s ongoing medical and humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.

UOSSM USA’s mental health teams provided specialized Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services to displaced individuals and families, with a particular focus on women and children in central and southern Gaza. The program helped alleviate psychological distress, improve well-being, and strengthen resilience among communities affected by the humanitarian crisis.

Through September 2024, UOSSM USA provided MHPSS services to 5,183 individuals despite the extremely challenging humanitarian conditions.

In parallel, UOSSM USA implemented the Advanced Wound Care Project in Gaza with funding support from UOSSM Canada and UOSSM USA’s private community donors. The initiative expanded access to specialized wound care services for patients with complex wounds, including traumatic, diabetic, and other chronic wounds requiring advanced treatment. By introducing Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) technology and providing essential medications and medical supplies, the project strengthened wound care capacity and improved access to specialized treatment during a critical period of the humanitarian response.
