UOSSM USA Launches Fundraising Campaign to Support Hospitals in Gaza
A humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza due to the recent attacks, including attacks on hospitals and medical facilities.
Our goal is to raise $300,000 to provide medical aid to hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine. You can help replenish the shortage of medicines and medical equipment resulting from those attacks, and ensure continuation of healthcare provision to those in need of medical care. UOSSM Partners with World Health Organization (WHO) to Support Integrated Health Service Network in Harem
UOSSM is partnering with the World Health Organization (WHO) to support an integrated health service delivery network in Harem. The integrated service delivery network in Idlib was established by the WHO office in Gaziantep, and is in cooperation with 6 Syrian non-profit health partners, utilizing 10 health facilities (4 mobile primary health care (PHC) units, 3 fixed PHC units, 2 PHC centers, and 1 comprehensive PHC center).
The network aims to deliver equitable, accessible, and sustainable health services within a spectrum of health promotion, diagnosis and disease management. These principles and goals are based on the restructuring of the system towards primary health care via implementation of the Essential Healthcare Package (EHSP) at different levels, and a referral system to higher care levels.
Six UOSSM PHCs will be supported in this network with staff, capacity building, rehabilitation, and medical devices.
UOSSM Launches Research Project to Strengthen the Health System in Syria
UOSSM launched a research project that will explore options to strengthen the health system in Syria, this project will be supported by the King’s College London. The goal is to create a strengthened healthcare system model in areas of conflict that can be applied in other contexts affected by complex, long-term conflicts.
The research will include: Analyzing the current state of health education, filling gaps, and developing long-term strategy for health education, and discovering ways to integrate the current health workforce into the health system through the following:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate medical education for doctors, nurses, and other health workers, and will include curriculum development, partnership support, supporting nursing and vocational schools.
- Master’s degrees from United Kingdom universities (at least 6)
- Medical Policy Fellowships (15 total)
- Trainings for trainers and teachers
- A plan to develop research capabilities in the medical field: to be researched with SBOMS Syrian Board of Medical Specialties
- Clinical and surgical training
- An equipped training center for the directorate
- Medical education platform in the Arabic language
- Research papers, curricula, training bags, educational plans, courses and diplomas
